My ode to the beautiful land that is Switzer-land. Full of fondue, plaid, heart etched little wooden window panes and bluebird ski days. I clutched a spritz and basked in the sun, took as many deep breaths of the fresh alpine air as possible, and snapped approximately 1578 pics and videos of my new favorite hotel like I was filming my very own Wes Anderson film. Please enjoy my list of Zermatt good stuff, and strict hotel review / plea to take approximately 5 modes of connecting transport to visit the gem that is the tiny town of Mürren, Switzerland.

With a population of 452 people, Mürren is a little mountain town in the Swiss Alps with a special little hotel worth traveling 15hrs for. I probably wouldn’t have found Mürren if not for Drei Berge, a real life mini-hiker-chic Grand Budapest Hotel. Not in grandeur, but more in the study of color, fantastical design decisions, and general feeling of awe. I could practically hear a Wes Wanderson soundtrack. The dedication to the brand world inspired me beyond belief. While playing cards (teaching each other our own versions of Gin Rummy) in the neon purple and red lobby, my best friend Peyton and I were greeted by a high-energy well-dressed man, concerned where the coaster to Peyton’s spritz may be. After a few exchanges he told us he was the owner and was just here for a night to treat his staff to dinner at the close of the season. Immediately fascinated by the man, the myth, the legend that dreamt up this place, we scrolled and found out that he was also the creative genius that rebranded and brought Officine Universelle Buly back to the magical destination it is today. King of the souvenir and mixing old with new, through Buly and his new line A Young Hiker, Ramdane Touhami creates worlds and allows you to borrow bits of it, immersing you into a dream world full of trinkets, customizations, sentiments that stay with you. We walked around wanting to buy every single thing we saw and turns out you kind of can?
